By Teymour Al-Habal, Year 12
The Ecolint LGB Business Group offers a new and exclusive space for students who are passionate about business and entrepreneurship, as well as for students that are willing to familiarize themselves more with such topics. This club brings together motivated and curious students from LGB Year 12-13 that are eager to learn as well as give the opportunity to learn to others around the campus.
One of the main features of the Business Group is its strong focus on networking. Members have the opportunity to connect with and learn from company leaders, professionals, and successful entrepreneurs. These connections can lead to valuable insights into various university course choices and career paths. Sharing and learning from professionals gives students a firsthand look into different areas of work and real-world business experiences, offering guidance that students do not necessarily gain from school.
Professional development is another core aspect of the group. Through expert-led seminars, and interactive sessions, participants can expand their knowledge in different areas of business such as marketing, leadership, or even strategic thinking. These interactive workshops do not only allow students to build practical skills but also encourage students to pursue their ideas into projects.
The highlight of the Business Group is the Entrepreneurial Meetings. These sessions are designed to put forward collaboration, and build connections among student entrepreneurs. The meetings include informal networking time where students can casually interact and exchange ideas. Guest speakers, ranging from industry experts to successful entrepreneurs, will share their personal experiences, lessons learned, and professional advice. In addition, the interactive workshops provide hands-on learning in various business topics, as well as open Q&A sessions. These will hopefully give the attending students the opportunity to engage directly with speakers with a goal of learning and pursuing their interest in any given topic.
For students interested in this as a career path or even hobby, the Business Group hosts an engaging Investment Challenge. This competition aims to teach financial literacy, strategic thinking, and risk management in a fun and interactive environment. Participants learn how to navigate market dynamics, make informed investment decisions, and develop practical financial skills. These are all useful skills to have in one’s inventory for the future, especially in this day and age, considering where our world is going.
Beyond business skills, the group also offers opportunities for CAS projects, enabling students to blend business knowledge with creativity and social impact to check one thing off to lighten their load for the stressful IB experience!
Overall, the Ecolint LGB Business Group is much more than a typical school club. It is a community where students can truly connect, collaborate, and grow. Whether one is interested in launching a startup, building professional skills, or simply networking with like-minded peers, the Business Group provides the perfect platform for students to explore their interests and achieve their goals for the future.
