On November 5, 2024, former US President Donald Trump won the 2024 U.S. election. An outstanding 312 electoral votes, against his democratic opponent Kamala Harris, who obtained the remaining 226 votes. Previously, Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. election with 304 votes against his opponent Hillary Clinton. The United States of America have made the same mistake twice, as Donald Trump’s poor decisions regarding the economy are damaging to the country. For example, during his previous presidency from 2016 to 2020, he had implemented tax cuts which mainly benefited the rich, and several “deregulations” in industries. Additionally, Trump has gained 34 felonies and sexual assault charges, but nevertheless, the US still voted for him. With his has plan to kick off `Project 2025`, The United States of America are not in good hands.
Firstly, Donald Trump’s contribution to the economy during the time he was elected from 2017 to 2019 can be considered negligible. For example, for a long period during his presidency, Trump benefited off of Barak Obama’s economy. Also, during his presidency, Trump implemented major corporate tax cuts from 35% to 21%. However, this policy only benefited large corporations and wealthy people in addition to contributing to the national debt. Furthermore, Trump reduced some state regulations in order to improve efficacy, but many of the regulations he eliminated protected the environment and consumers. When Trump lost the election in 2020, the American economy started to crumble primarily due to COVID-19. However, Republicans put the blame on President Joe Biden ever since he was elected in 2021 and desired Trump back, which was also the reason for the attack towards the Capitol. Nonetheless, during Biden’s presidency, Biden created millions of job opportunities and somewhat revived the falling US economy: confuting the belief that he worsened the economic state of the country. Now that Trump has won the 2024 election, he has introduced “Project 2025”, through which he seeks to make major changes to the economic system.
Speaking of Project 2025, one of its policies enunciates the deportation of all immigrants across the country. Despite how much immigrants have contributed to the country, many of them being farmers who are the backbone of the American economy, Trump is going to intentionally kick them out of the US. Another potential reform of Project 2025 is related to the restrictive policies regarding abortion. He publicly announced during his pep rallies that he would not sign a federal abortion ban. However, he is likely to change his mind as he has done in the past: when enforcing the Comstock Act which banned the mailing of abortion meds, ultimately reducing women’s bodily rights.
Despite Trump having 34 felony counts, he still ran for the presidency and ended up acquiring 84 more electoral votes than Kamala Harris. An example of the strategies he used to get elected is through citing non-existent problems. One example of the non-existent problems Trump introduced was during his and Kamala’s Presidential debate, when he stated that “They’re eating the dogs” in Springfield, Ohio. There are no records of this problem in Ohio, proving how Trump didn’t care whether his statement was true. His only goal was to demonize immigrants so he could gain support for his political initiative: “Project 2025”.
Donald Trump’s re-election as the 47th president of the United States is a danger that the Republican population of America does not seem to comprehend. Donald Trump plans to lead the US into a depressive state, which will have major effects on all of its citizens, whether it be through deportation or through limiting bodily rights.
