And the Stuco Winner is…

By Emmanuelle Pirard, Year 12

After a very intense campaign over the past few weeks, this year’s Student Council was announced at Sports Day on Friday. And the winner is… REMOTE!

Disclosure: Although I am a proud member of Team Remote, I will try my best to write an unbiased article 🙂

In the lead by a solid 150 votes (out of 422), Remote StuCo won the elections, followed by Union in second place, Fuego in third, and GOAT in last place. Congratulations to all the groups, whose dedication and determination made this StuCo campaign possibly the most eventful one in the history of Ecolint.

Remote StuCo’s group is composed of six Year 12 students: Marcella Barata Reis, Emmanuelle Pirard, Caitlin Ebsary, Roman Francioli, Lorenzo Ferraz & Lapo Rocco. Their agenda includes increasing school spirit as well as improving communications within the school. They also want to include a football league, with matches dispersed over the span of a couple months (Free McDonald’s for the winner!), a volleyball tournament with a final against a team of hand-selected teachers, fun events such as movie nights, FIFA nights and especially a bonfire BBQ night to celebrate the end of exams! And last but not least, let us not forget the famous foosball table.

When we asked to Mr G what he thought of the elections, he made an interesting comment regarding the relative absence of posters and campaigning on campus (except for the occasional goat spotting). Instead, the large majority of the campaigning was done through social media. Very reflective of our generation I would say!

In the words of Goat StuCo:

“We at GOAT Stuco were very disappointed by the fake news that we came last, and that our unorthodox campaign didn’t stand a chance. It did. We came second. We fought admirably against The System. We wish the very best for Remote STUCO and hope they keep their election promises. We also ask that due to popular support they bring a goat to Ecolint.”
