Our school is a dynamic and inclusive community that offers a wide range of clubs that meet a variety of students’ interests. The focuses of these clubs range from sports to arts and much more. Each club is run by dedicated students who are passionate about their topics and work very hard to create a space where they can share their interests with their fellow students while also spreading awareness about important issues. For instance, a club that has been part of our school for years is the We For S/He club. This club is focused on promoting equality and raising awareness about gender-related issues, striving to create a more inclusive and equal environment within our school.

The We For S/He club holds regular meetings every week, providing a space for participants to engage in meaningful discussions about gender equality and its implications in society. These meetings often focus on studying various issues that surround gender equality around the world and even within our school community. For example, one week, the club tackled the issue of the gender pay gap in the workforce, discussing its causes, impact, and potential solutions. To deepen their understanding, members often examine specific case studies that relate to the topic at hand, encouraging participants to connect the concepts with real-life scenarios. This approach not only allows for critical thinking but also helps students recognize the relevance of these issues in their everyday lives and in the wider world.

The true meaning of equality is often overlooked and interpreted as equal treatment when in reality it is all about equal opportunities. It is often viewed as a constant fight for feminism, and although that plays a major role, equality is actually a constant battle for everyone to have the same chances in life and not be penalised for their gender. The term equality has been used for so long that people have twisted and changed its definition, blurring its meaningful message. The We For S/He club has the important role of spreading the strong message of equality and for the message to remain intact to its definition.

This club does not only host weekly meetings but also organises different events to celebrate important worldly occasions linked to equality, such as International Women’s Day. Additionally, the club will hold fundraisers to gather donations for organisations who work to help people who suffer the impacts of gender inequality. These initiatives represent just a few of the many ways the We For S/He Club actively engages students in the ongoing fight for equality. Students are strongly encouraged to join any clubs that interest them and become part of a group that strives to share their passions with the school community.
