By Max Tijero, Year 12
The LGB World Cup is a football tournament organised by a group of students as a part of their CAS project. This tournament is a great way to join the Years 9 through 13 all together. For this tournament, you will need to create a team of at least one goalkeeper and 5 outfield players. You can also have a maximum of 3 bench players. Everyone is invited to play in this tournament and enjoy a good match of football. You can have mixed teams with both boys and girls as well as players from multiple year groups. This tournament usually takes place every year. The matches are played during the High School morning break. The matches will start at 10:35 and end at 10:50. We also encourage you to come watch the matches even if you are not participating. You can cheer for your friends and enjoy some football. You and your friends can represent any country of your choice. You can already sign up your team on our instagram where the rules are already posted on the @lgbworldcup24_25 account. To sign up, make sure to provide the name and family name of all team members as well as the country that you want to represent. We also ask that you send us a team picture.
During the matches, a student will be taking pictures that will later be posted on Instagram. These pictures will also be put on a Google Drive that will be shared with everyone at the end of the tournament. We will also try to film all the matches to later on post them on a Youtube channel. This will be a great way for everyone to have a great memory of this tournament.
The sign-ups for the tournament will end on the 15th of November at 10:30. You will have until then to provide all the information required. On that day, the groups will be announced. We will also give a timetable with all the matches shortly after. We ask all participants of the tournament to be respectful during the matches with the referees, the rivals and the spectators. The balls will be provided by the school, therefore, we ask the players to be careful with the material and to not lose anything.
This tournament presents an opportunity for students from various year groups to get to know each other through football. As mentioned before, anyone from High School is more than welcome to form a team and sign up for the tournament to prove their football abilities. For any questions or concerns about the tournament and its organisation, please contact us through our instagram mentioned before. We will be more than happy to provide any information and answer all of your questions.
Don’t forget, the more teams, the better the tournament so start gathering friends and forming your teams! We will be expecting you.
