The Award winning teen drama Netflix show Outer Banks has announced it’s release of the third season on February 23rd. It comes with no surprise that such news arouses great excitement for this famous show. The first season, released in the summer of 2020, came with a lot of success. As a result, the show continued to create sequels.
Outer Banks follows the story of a group of teens in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and outlines the social difference between the rich in the community and the working-class residents who call themselves “Pogues”. The group of Pogue teens search through the mystery of what happened to the missing father of the group’s ringleader (John B), discovering a treasure tied to that father. A lot of things happen during each season, therefore it would be helpful to watch a recap video of the show’s last two seasons before starting the third (or just re-watch all of it if you really enjoyed it!)
Taking into account the success of the show, it is interesting to understand what makes the Outer Banks so famous.
First, every episode brings forth new drama and anticipation for the next. Many Netflix viewers look forward to watching shows that don’t require a lot of attention, that allow you to understand the plot easily and simultaneously make you crave for more. More shows alongside OBX that fit in these characteristics are Never have I ever and Ginny and Georgia. Therefore, the Outer Banks has achieved its rank for a Netflix binge. Then, the story line and the characters really feel relatable. Not all of us have been on the outer banks of an island living a life like the characters but the show uses the setting to explore universal points.
For instance, the group deals with the pressure of college, issues in friendships, young love, the foster care system, domestic violence, and drug abuse. Everyone wants to feel represented, and the flaws of the lives of the characters in Outer Banks are openly shown by the producers. The characters also make mistakes and have to deal with their consequences. In addition, the show follows the universal themes of wealth, friendship, family and love, all of which are applicable to anyone’s life. Finally, the Outer Banks have incredible actors. Starring Madelyn Cline, Chase Strokes, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Davis… The talent of these young actors explains itself.
Therefore, don’t wait another second to indulge in watching this show (as a way to relax from studying of course)!
