By Rebecca Attias (STUCO President), Year 12
The Bal des Neiges, a ball that students in secondary school have looked forward to and admired as a school tradition, has not been organised in the past four years. For years now, the Bal des Neiges has been hosted as a party where we can all reunite and share our school spirit in the midst of all the hard work we endure throughout the year. The school event has been greatly missed, and our secondary school Student Council, Flame Stuco, has brought it back to life!
Contrary to the past, this year they will be hosting the Bal with all the secondary school years, rather than just the year 12 and 13. In addition, Flame Stuco, has organised this event with all 3 campuses of Ecolint. After speaking with students from year 9, 10, and 13 we can see that LGB is excited and getting ready to party on February 3-4!
As a Year 9 student, how do you perceive the Bal des Neiges and what do you look forward to the most?
“I really look forward to having fun with my friends and just enjoying the night as well as meeting new people from different campuses. I think it’s a super idea that this year the Stuco included all year groups, so that way everyone can be included and enjoy the night as a school community. Also, it will be a fun way to try a “different” type of event because, us year 9s, don’t typically attend elegant events which will give everyone a chance to dress up, have fun, and forget about the stress of school for a little while!” Maika Ramirez Martiarena, Year 9
How are students in your year getting ready to have fun and what have they been mentioning about it?
“Students in our year are getting really excited for the Bal des Neiges. All of my friends started sending pictures of what we’re going to wear to each other so we can all find pretty dresses. We also are starting to organise carpooling for the event and making great playlists! We’ve heard so many “echoes” about the Bal des Neiges from previous years and we are so glad that we can finally be reunited in a fun way as a year, and as a whole school.” Soraya Janoudi, Year 10
As exams approach, do you think Bal des Neiges will reunite the class of 2023 and let you all cherish moments with one another?
“I think that Bal des Neiges will reunite the class of 2023 a final time before our final exams approach. This will be a great way for us to relax and have a great party at the Continental Hotel. Bal des Neiges will certainly be one of the best ways to bring the class of 2023 together one last time and will also be a good opportunity for all of us to celebrate our successes up to now. Some of us have already been pre accepted or received offers from different universities and this is a great time to raise a glass for all of us working hard. It is also a time for us to socialise as we are all very engaged in different academic activities right now. I hope to see all Class of 2023 at the Bal des Neiges one last time before the exams. Let’s have a good time together!” Thomas Nobel, Year 13
