Opinion Poll: Monthly Assemblies – A Love or Hate Relationship?

Eleanor Braddock and Polina Melnikhova, Year 12

First of all, we’d like to introduce to you, our reader, a novelty of the LGB Express. This year you’ll have the ability to express your opinion on a different question every week. As editors of the LGB Express, Eleanor Braddock (Y12) and I value your opinion and believe that every student has a right to be heard.

This week’s opinion poll question was addressing the student body’s opinion on one of the new novelties that the new administration is implementing: monthly assemblies. Change was an inevitable part of this school year, and these assemblies were our first glimpse of such change.

The formal question was “What do you think of the monthly assemblies?” and the voting options were:

  1. Great idea!
  2. Nap time.
  3. What assemblies?

Every body responds to change differently, LGB is no different. Therefore the student body’s opinions were rather divided; 38% voted for option A that they were a “great idea”, 38% opted for option B: “Nap Time” (to be fair we do have too much work and not enough sleep) and 23% had no idea what was going on since they chose option C in true Ecolint style.

The monthly assemblies were designed with the purpose to keep everyone up to date as to what is going on in the LGB community, and to ensure strong lines of communication between the students and the administrative body. In my opinion that’s not a bad thing, a definite improvement even.

Hopefully, you enjoyed our very first poll and we suggest you visit The LGB Express for fun and exciting questions every week.
