Somos un grupo de estudiantes de Lengua Española de la École International de Genève – ECOLINT. Durante el Mes de Herencia Hispana ( 15 de septiembre – 15 de octubre ) se nos ocurrió la idea de crear nuestro Club, al constatar que nadie conocía este Evento. Queríamos crear un entorno donde pudiéramos reunirnos con otros para compartir y aprender sobre diferentes tradiciones y valorar la diversidad de la cultura hispana.
En nuestra clase de Español creamos un club hispano donde hacemos proyectos que nos ayuden a entender más a fondo la cultura hispana con el apoyo de nuestra profesora.
Al principio reunimos al grupo e hicimos una lluvia de ideas sobre lo que podríamos hacer, nos gustaría que este proyecto continúe en los próximos años y esperemos que los siguientes Y12 ‘s tomen iniciativa y continúen este proyecto.
Uno de los primeros pasos que dimos fue crear una página web y un instagram donde se pueden encontrar pequeños proyectos que ya hicimos y noticias para que alguien que esté interesado en esta comunidad pueda acceder y descubrir diferentes eventos que pasan hoy en día en Ginebra. Nos interesamos en todos tipos de eventos como obras de teatro, exposiciones de arte y cualquier otro tipo de evento en relación con la cultura hispana.
Ahora mismo cuando llegue un mejor clima aquí en Ginebra pensamos crear un recorrido por Ginebra donde veamos la herencia hispana que hay aquí como visitar la tumba de Borjes y su antigua casa pero también buscar restaurantes que representan esta cultura.
Otro proyecto que se está desarrollando ahora mismo es con Guillermo Chacón, quien es presidente de la Comisión Latina sobre el SIDA y fundador de la Red de Salud Hispana. Pudimos hablar con él y se mostró muy interesado en lo que está haciendo nuestro pequeño club y cómo es la cultura hispana en Ginebra. Acordamos crear una presentación y recopilar datos para responder a todas sus preguntas y luego presentar nuestros hallazgos en una reunión que tendremos con él y algunos de sus colegas.

We are a group of Spanish Language students from the École International de Genève. During the Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 – October 15) we came up with the idea of creating our club when we realised that no one knew about this event. We wanted to create an environment where we could meet with others to share and learn about different traditions and value the diversity of Hispanic culture.
In our Spanish class, we created a Hispanic club where we do projects that help us understand Hispanic culture in more depth with the support of our teacher.
In the beginning, we got the group together and brainstormed about what we could do, we would like this project to continue in the coming years and hopefully, the next Y12’s will take initiative and continue this project.
One of the first steps we took was to create a website and an Instagram account where you can find small projects we already did and news so that someone who is interested in this community can access and discover different events happening today in Geneva. We are interested in all kinds of events like plays, art exhibitions, and any other kind of event in relation to Hispanic culture.
Right now when better weather arrives here in Geneva, we plan to create a tour around the city where we see the Hispanic heritage that is here such as: visiting Borjes’ tomb and his old house but also looking for restaurants that represent this culture.
Another project that is being developed right now is with Guillermo Chacon, who is the president of the Latino Commission on AIDS and founder of the Hispanic Health Network. We were able to talk to him and he was very interested in what our little club is doing and what the Hispanic culture is like in Geneva. We agreed to create a presentation and collect data to answer all of his questions and then present our findings at a meeting we will have with him and some of his colleagues.
