As 2022 begins, here are a few movies coming out this year:
Dog, scheduled for release on February 18th
Lulu, the titular dog, is always by Army Ranger Briggs (Channing Tatum’s) side. The film documents Lulu and Briggs’ travels to make it back down the Pacific Coast in time for a soldier’s funeral. To get there they break an infinite amount of laws and go through near-death adventures. Will they make it in time to attend the event?
The Batman, scheduled for release on March 24th
Batman is a well-known superhero who appears in the DC comic books. His whole life he had trained his body and mind to attain perfection and become a self-made superhero. Previous films have consisted of him fighting criminals to avenge his murdered parents.
In this latest movie, The Riddler, Batman’s worst enemy, is set to “play a game of cat and mouse with Batman and James Gordon, the commissioner of Gotham City.”
The Lost City, scheduled for release on March 25th
In this new film, Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) is a writer who documents her adventures through books. While going on tour to promote the release of her latest book, she gets kidnapped by an eccentric wealthy man played by Daniel Radcliffe who wants her to tell him about her latest journey to an ancient city. Alan (Channing Tatum), who was the cover model for her book, comes to her rescue.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, scheduled for release on May 6th
The latest Doctor Strange film is a new addition to the Marvel Universe storyline. Doctor Strange, once a successful surgeon, gained his supernatural powers during a journey to find a way to heal his hand after a tragic accident. This latest movie will follow the adventures of Doctor Strange and his research on the time stone. It will also feature Wanda Maximoff, another prominent character in Marvel films. She was born with powers, and when she got older, the High Evolutionary gifted her with Chaos Magic and she became too powerful.
Thor: Love and Thunder, scheduled for release on July 8th
This movie will feature characters from Thor: The Dark World and the Guardians of the Galaxy series, both in the Marvel Universe.
Thor is a Norse God and superhero known for his powerful hammer. He is from Asgard and has a brother, Loki, who also features in Marvel films. The Guardians of the Galaxy are a group that consists of Groot, Gamora, Drax, Star-Lord, and Rocket-Racoon, who fight villains together. This movie will be a continuation of Thor’s adventures.
Avatar 2, scheduled for release on December 16th
The first Avatar film came out in 2009 and had massive success; it held the record for highest-grossing film worldwide for a decade and won three Academy Awards. As a result, its sequel has been long-awaited. The current movie took so long to make partly because of all the special effects and the many scenes that take place in water.
In this movie, the characters Jake Sully and Ney’tiri are going to have a child. However, after trying to stay together, they must leave their homes to go explore Pandora, the planet on which the film takes place. When a threat resurfaces, Jake has to go and fight the humans.
