Geneva’s medecin cantonal has decided to put in more safety measures concerning cafeterias. Due to these new restrictions, our school has had to adapt and enforce a system that is similar to the one put in place last May.
These new regulations were set last Monday (the 22nd) and will last until further notice. Here are a few key things you should know:
The sale of food in the cafeteria is suspended at all times during the day. However, hot meals are still offered at the cafeteria. The different year groups have designated times and areas they can stay during morning break and during lunch (timetable below).
During morning break, if you want a snack, you have to bring your own. Years 9 and 10 can eat in the cafeteria, at an outdoor picnic table, outside the cafeteria or inside the tent. Years 11, 12, and 13 can eat either on the ground floor of the Arts Center or the 1st floor. Year 12 and 13 can use the Espace des Elèves if they would like.
For lunch, different time increments have been put in place for different year groups. Years 9 and 10 eat in the cafeteria from 11:40-12:00PM. They must leave the cafeteria at 12:00 so that staff can disinfect and ventilate. Next to use the cafeteria are the year 7s and 8s. At 12:40, years 11, 12, and 13 can eat in the cafeteria until the end of their break. Year 11-13 students also have the option to eat off-campus. If they chose to stay on campus and to eat indoors either in the cafeteria or the Arts Center they must have registered on the CoGa app and have their QR code ready upon entry. If they choose to sit outside there is no need to have their QR codes scanned for now.
Lunches have been modified by the SV team and now allow a quick and swift passage through the lines. There are now two options for your hot meal, one vegetarian option and a non vegetarian option. These hot meals are offered in take away boxes that come in a bag with a salad, a dessert and a piece of bread. Methods of payments have changed as the cafeteria no longer deducts money from your card but you have to be registered for the meal plan. It is strongly encouraged that students and staff bring their own water bottles.
If you have any allergies or require a special diet it is recommended that you bring your own food. If you do choose to bring your own food, microwaves are still available for use.
This situation is not ideal but is put in place for everyone’s health and safety. Hopefully we will be able to go back to our normal ways before the end of the year, but until then, stay safe!
