LGB Moves

Most people, including myself, showed up on Thursday the 29th of September thinking “I really hate Thursdays, why can’t the week just go Saturday, Sunday, Friday” only to realize that it was in fact Sports Day; the most anticipated high school event of the year. On this day, students are emancipated from academic stress, and can relish in the adrenaline rush produced by this experience. For the first time in recent years, class 13 also had the privilege of attending sports afternoon, instead of having time off to work on the three Internal assessments, written tasks, and recorded orals that were due yesterday.

As you all know, the day consisted of a rotation between different sports: football, basketball, badminton, and volleyball for year 12 and 13, while year 9 to 11 also held a relay. The activities took place both in the Centre sportive de Sous-Moulin, (for classes 9-11) while grades 12 and 13 stayed in school, which was exposed to splendid weather till the very end. Unfortunately most of year 13 seemed to have gotten ill the day before (there was a bad cold around at that time) so that some classes were merged and mentors also participated actively in various disciplines.img_4902

We also interviewed a student and asked him how this Ecolint Tradition affected his life, and he responded that “even though we lost at everything today, I really enjoyed SportsDay. It helped me forget ll my work for a bit, and jus have fun with my friends” after we had given him 10 CHF.

To conclude, we can see how Sports Day is really an integral part of LGB culture, and is universally loved by the student body. We hope it will remain a LGB tradition for decades to come, and would like to congratulate Ms. Kretzmeier’s mentor class for winning the trophy this year. Furthermore we are doing our best to try and implement sports day everyday.

Sincerely,

Your Sports Editors
