This Saturday, a group of around 130 students went to Lausanne to participate in a fund-raising event, to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. In total we managed to raise over 12 000 Chf for the cause, almost a seventh of the total amount raised!
Cystic Fibrosis is a recessive genetic disease that affects the lungs, and digestive system through the secretion of mucus, and affects one in about every 3000 newborns in Europe. The money raised at for the CF Marchathon all goes towards research towards a Swiss Foundation researching treatments.
The event lasted all morning, with everyone leaving for Lausanne at 9:00 in the morning, accompanied by Ms. Kretzmeier, Mr. Power and Ms. Newman. Despite gloomy weather, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, with people either running 5 or 10 kilometers, or walking 5 (although the majority did the latter)
The trip was a fun way to enjoy time with friends, spend time walking by the lake for a good cause, and eat hot-dogs shamelessly!
We want to thank everyone who sponsored the Marchathon this year. Please also make sure to support the bake sales and fundraising events that will be happening throughout the year and come to the Marchathon next year on Saturday October 3rd!
