This past Saturday, the 4th of May, LGB’s Category B netball team won gold at the SGIS tournament. The Cat B team, consisting of mainly high school students, included Akemi Sabatier, Eloïse Note, Federica Lopez Alvarez, Amy Purshouse, Anya Markovitz, Mia Smith, and Pia Holdcroft of year 10, along with Emma de Bruyn of year 9 and Sofia Santoro of year 8.
Other schools participating in the tournament were: the host school La Châtaigneraie, Institut International de Lancy, International School of Lausanne, La Côte International School, Campus des Nations, and Institut Le Rosey.
LGB’s Cat B played three games, starting their winning streak with a 44-6 win against Nations. The second match came with a 38-3 win against La Côte, followed by a score of 31-19 against La Châtaigneraie. Starting seven for each match were Mia Smith (GA), Akemi Sabatier (WA), Anya Markovitz (GS), Amy Purshouse (GD), Eloïse Note (GK), Pia Holdcroft (WD), and Federica Lopez Alvarez (C). The games consisted of four 9-minute quarters.
The overwhelming win this weekend means that LGB now holds the title of the 2019 SGIS Cat B Champions. Additionally, both the Cat D and E teams came first, resulting in LGB with three wins out of the four categories. A big congratulations to them!
