By Sneha Doda, Year 11 A few weeks ago, Ubuntu Letters, a heart-touching play written by Estelle Hughes was performed in the art center. It addressed the difficulties of IB stress, love interests and friendships, as well as the struggles and personal questions about origin and belonging many international students have.
Having been a part of the cast, I must admit it was an incredible experience. I learnt many things, got to know and work with wonderful new people. The countless number of rehearsals went on for hours and were so tedious, that by the end of them we were annoyed, sweaty and extremely tired. Yet, we still managed to support one another and work well together. I can say with confidence that I have strengthened and developed friendships, understood the importance of team work and made incredible memories, as is with every show I’ve participated in at LGB. The difference with Ubuntu Letters, is that we were a small cast and the show was ours (not some famous playwright’s) – It was written, put together and performed by the Ubuntu family itself.
