At LGB, it’s quite difficult to keep up with school sports. This is due to the fact that unless we’re on a sports team, we rarely know when or where each team has a game. However a few weeks ago, the weekend of February 3-4, 2018, we had a wide range of tournaments for the volleyball senior team, volleyball moyennes team and the girls basketball senior team.
Volleyball girls senior
In early February, your girls senior volleyball team smashed it at the Lausanne tournament. Their first game was a close loss as they were still waking up from the early bus ride. But after that it was a continuous win all the way to semi finals where they faced the unbeatable International School of Lausanne. Not only did they receive all the hits but they killed it with some cheeky moves. Despite beating them by 10 points at the beginning of both sets they lost both sets 18-21 and 17-21 ( the closest they’ve ever gotten to beating them). Either way they came home with their medals and trophy of third place. Let’s just say there has never been a team that’s gone home happier despite not winning the whole tournament… Till next time when they bring home the grand trophy.

Volleyball girls moyennes
Several weeks ago, LGB hosted a volleyball tournament for several schools, including La Chat, two ISL teams, and Nations. All the schools competed extremely well with a very high level of volleyball being played at each match. The LGB volleyball moyennes team got 3rd place after 4 intense matches. Our first two matches of the day were sadly losses against ISL 1 and La Chat where both teams played excellently. Although we did have a strong start and were ahead by several points in both games, the opposing teams eventually caught up. We later on had two victories after winning the games against ISL 2 and Nations. In end, LaChat placed first and ISL 1 second. However, we did manage to win a third place trophy to add to LGB’s impressive trophy collection.
