By Luka Secilmis, Year 12
I hear six children playing football
three versus three, I assume.
complete silence, they whisper
their meticulous schemes
which to us, are unknown.
A little orange bird walks by
the kids’ trampling, scares it away.
The ball has been snapped.
Very Peyton Manning like
the quarterback yells hike! hike!
I’m open! I’m open!
but, my attention is long gone.
The blaring honking of a car
a taxi cab, I assume.
the ringing of citi-bikes
the sounds of exhaustion
from a woman doing lunges next to me.
A woman in the distance,
earplugs plugged in
dancing to her unknown melody
dancing. Almost poetically.
