AI has evolved significantly over the years. Regardless of whether it is used to help directors or filmmakers create films, to help artists write songs, to aid in further research or used commonly by students to help them revise for exams, it is clear just how powerful a tool it has become. It has even been said that AI may take over various jobs such as food delivery or waitering.
I myself have experimented with an app called MidJourney to gain more knowledge on how it works. In this app you have the ability to search through various digital artworks as well as asking it to demonstrate its creativity. I was very amazed at how realistic the paintings turned out to be with the different colors and textures, creating the impression of impressive graphic art done by a human.
I do think the app can help many artists seek inspiration or even help in creating the artwork itself. I also think that it can help to further develop your ideas for art when seeking inspiration. This is because you can ask the app to create any style of artwork.
However, I believe that it does not compare with the effort and ideas that genuine artists put into their artworks. The piece may not hold much significance compared to a piece created by a human. For example, a piece that represents mental health issues created by a human will likely have more significance because the artist themselves can use their personal experience in the artwork. With AI it may be able to create a piece representing a mental health issue, but it will not have the same impact and emotions as a piece by a person would have.
That being said, we can still wonder whether AI will have the ability to take over art. In my personal opinion, I do not think it can replace the creativity and imagination of an art piece created by a human. I believe that artists will always have the power to create meaningful and impactful pieces as the creativity comes not only of course from the imagination of the mind but the heart as well.
