CAS project: Gymnastics Event

By Letizia Castagna, Year 12

What better way to inspire young gymnasts than watching their role models perform live? Thanks to Centre Cantonal vers le Haut Niveau, this incredible opportunity is now a reality. If you’ve never experienced a live gymnastics performance up close, now is your chance. This event will bring together high-level gymnasts to perform impressive routines, followed by an interactive session where the younger gymnasts will be able to learn from them.

As part of our CAS project we, a group of Year 12 students, are organising this event to celebrate artistic gymnastics, encourage and inspire young athletes and strengthen our school’s sports community. We believe that this would have been a memorable event for our younger selves, which is why we are organising it for younger students. We hope it will motivate them to pursue their own goals and push their limits. This event offers more than just inspiration for our gymnasts, it is a chance to highlight the dedication, discipline and artistry involved in gymnastics. The students will gain firsthand knowledge of the mental and physical difficulties of the sport as well as the perseverance required to reach a high level.

Not only will it feature a live gymnastic exhibition where skilled gymnasts will show their expertise, but also a hands-on workshop where younger students will receive coaching and tips. It is an opportunity for the younger students to learn new skills, ask questions and gain inspiration from those who have been doing the sport for many years at a high level. It will also create connections between students, athletes and teachers, which strengthens our community bonds. The gymnasts of the Centre Cantonal will vary in levels of skills and age, which brings diversity to our event and shows both the young boys and girls of the Ecolint gymnastics team how progression and evolution in the sport works.

The event will take place on March 31st at 15:00. It will be organised in our Sports Centre, giving us a chance to make use of all of the state-of-the-art installations specific to gymnastics. Anyone can attend, whether you are in year 9 or year 13, everyone is welcome and encouraged to support our gymnasts and be part of this exciting event. This is your chance to see high level gymnasts up close and to support our school’s sports community. Even for those that are interested in starting this sport, this event could be the perfect introduction, it could spark a new passion for gymnastics.

This will be more than just a performance: it’s also an opportunity to reinforce the sports spirit and community of Ecolint. Organising this CAS project has allowed us to combine  our passion and interest for gymnastics with leadership and teamwork. We hope to make this a memorable experience for everyone who participates in it.

Do not forget to write it down in your calendar, let your friends know and join us for this exciting event at Ecolint.
