In March of this year, a Canadian star named Céline Dion was born in Charlemagne Quebec, Canada. Dion was born on the 30th of March 1968, selling 250 million records worldwide, with a net worth between 800 million to 1B (Canadian Dollar).
Céline Dion is more than just a singer; she is a legend, an icon, and a voice that has touched millions of people worldwide, including me. One of the main reasons why I love and listen to her music is because I feel like it’s very inspiring as she came from a lower class family, and in a few decades has become one of the most famous and best-selling Canadian artists. Thus, being the most famous and wealthiest Canadian artist. She’s been my favourite singer for as long as I can remember.
Her music is practically perfect in every way, no swear words, just amazing messages being sent through her songs. Her songs are calming, comforting, and not too dramatic, which makes me feel like she is family. My favourite album by Céline Dion is “Falling into You”. This album talks about her relationship with her late husband, René-Charles Angeli, who sadly died in 2016, 2 days before his birthday. René was her manager, and they produced and made songs that talked about love; they later fell in love. The songs that stand out the most for me are: Because You Loved Me, If That’s What It Takes, The Power of Love and I Love You. The reason is that they talk about what true love is, the level of love she had for her late husband, and how she would do whatever it takes for him. She can also sing in multiple languages, like English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. By reaching this level of success, she managed to win Multiple awards, winning 6 Grammys throughout her career. Céline won 228 awards in her lifetime and was nominated for 471 awards.
Whenever I listen to the songs “If That’s What It Takes” and “The Power of Love”, I get chills on every high note she hits because I feel she is talking to me, sending a message to me. The Power of Love was originally sung and written by Jennifer Rush, one of my favourites. Her “The Color of my Love”, released in 1993, is a warm power ballad. The lyrics talk about the strong bond between 2 people who are in love. My favorite quote by Céline is “ Life imposes things on you you can’t control, but you still have the choice of how you’re going to live through this”. This means I will have to go through things that I can’t control, but with courage and dignity, I will get through them.
Céline isn’t just a singer to me, she’s my role model and someone who I admire. Being one of my favourite people on this planet earth, I wish her joy and happiness but above all, love and immortality.
