By Chuyin Jin, Year 12
You were as serene as the sunset
Looking over an ocean
Yet bullets were brought to you like a storm
Cracking the ships and ravaging your peace
Hearing people scream as a tsunami hovers over the shore
The seagulls squeal as the fish get washed away to the strand
The innocent children crying for their parents
While those metallic pieces travel through their chests
A mother losing her warmth as she lies on her infant
In hopes of a brighter future for him
As he tries to crawl to his fighting father
He sees a round cap on the sand
It looked like one of his toys
Until he puts his hand on the frigid button
His father yelled at the top of his lungs
Yet the damage has already been done
As he takes his hand off
The inevitable wave came
And you vanished
