Interview: Mr. David on Christmas Traditions

By Vasileios Orfanos, Year 12

Christmas, or the Winter Break, is a time when people take a rest from their usual routine. Some people like to go on adventures, maybe exploring a new country, while others prefer going back home to be with family and friends.

During this season, there’s a special kind of magic as people choose how to make the most of their time off. For those who enjoy new experiences, the idea of visiting different places during Christmas is exciting. It might mean discovering unique traditions in a foreign country or simply enjoying a change of scenery. On the flip side, many find joy in the familiar surroundings of home, surrounded by the warmth and love of their close ones.

Ultimately, Christmas is not just about where you go, but about the special moments and connections you make along the way. Whether you’re off on an adventure or enjoying cosy moments at home, the holiday season is a time to cherish and celebrate the joy of being together.

Today I will be interviewing Mr. David on his thoughts on the Winter Break.

How was your holiday and did you have enough time to see family and friends?

  • Yes, my holiday was great, I guess I did have time to see my friends and family. I went to Los Angeles in the United States and had a great time.

Do you think Christmas should be a time to spend with family or time being used to go out and travel elsewhere by yourself?

  • Personally, I think Christmas time should definitely be spent with family because it’s a tradition to enjoy the day with your close loved ones. On the other hand, I believe the New Year should be a time where you can truly enjoy yourself, which means it can be spent with friends or by yourself if you decide to travel somewhere.

Was the break too short? Do you enjoy coming back to Ecolint for the new semester?

  • 3 weeks is the perfect amount. You have enough time to visit a new place and still come back one week prior to school and enter with the focus and concentration you need. I believe that this year was very relaxing as I had the chance to go somewhere and also come back in a pleasant mood.

Did you get any Christmas presents this year?

  • I received a great gift, which was a ticket to go to Los Angeles. Seeing family and spending time in the city was a fantastic gift and experience
